A watermark remover that never sees your video
Free Video Watermark Remover is a small, independent tool. All the work happens in your browser; our server only counts free exports and handles Pro billing. Questions or a clip that did not come out clean? Write to support@freevideowatermarkremover.com.
- WebCodecs
- decodes and encodes every frame in your browser
- 2-pixel ring
- of clean pixels feeds each rebuilt box
- H.264 MP4
- is what you download, with the AAC audio copied
- 800 MB
- is the largest file the remover opens
How it works
- Your browser opens the file from your disk. MP4 and MOV files are read with mp4box.js; each video frame is decoded by WebCodecs, the video codecs built into the browser (usually hardware accelerated).
- For every decoded frame, each box you drew is rebuilt. The tool averages a 2-pixel ring of clean pixels just outside each side of the box and blends those four edges across the box as a smooth patch (a Coons patch). Any straight colour gradient across the box comes out exactly right. Sides that touch the frame edge are skipped and the others carry the fill.
- Between frames, tiny changes in that ring (compression noise) are averaged with the previous frame, while real motion passes through, so the patch does not shimmer.
- The frame is encoded to H.264 with WebCodecs at about 1.3 times the source bitrate, and the original AAC audio samples are copied into the new MP4 without re-encoding. WebM files, which mp4box cannot read, are played once in a hidden player and re-encoded without audio.
- The finished file is handed to you as a download created inside the page (a blob: link). It is never sent anywhere.

Check that nothing is uploaded
- Open this site in Chrome or Edge on a computer.
- Open the developer tools (F12, or Cmd+Option+I on a Mac) and go to the Network tab.
- Drop a video into the remover, draw a box and press Remove watermark.
- Look at the Size column: the page scripts, mp4box and the muxer load, and one tiny request to /_serverFn counts your free video. None of them is anywhere near the size of your video.
- To be strict: once the progress bar moves, switch the Network tab to Offline. Cleaning finishes and the download still works.

What it can and cannot do
- It cannot see under a solid mark. The boxed area is filled to match its surroundings; it looks natural on skies, water, walls and soft backgrounds and smoothed on fine detail, faces or text.
- A mark that moves continuously across the frame needs a box over its whole path, which rebuilds a larger area. Marks that sit still or jump between a few corners work best.
- Pixels outside the boxes are not touched by the remover. Because the video is re-encoded, the file is not bit-identical; at the bitrate used it looks the same at normal viewing size.
- Metadata from the original file (including C2PA content credentials, where present) is not copied into the new MP4. We do not read or target it; it is a side effect of re-encoding.
- HEVC (H.265), VP9 and AV1 inputs depend on what your browser can decode. If decoding fails, convert the file to H.264 MP4 first.

Plans
Free: 3 videos a day (reset at midnight UTC), up to 1080p, up to 2 boxes, no account, nothing added, same quality as Pro. Stills (PNG, JPG, WebP) are free and not counted. Without an account, the daily count is kept against a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself.
Pro, $5.99 a month or $39.99 a year: unlimited videos, 4K (2160p), 3 boxes, a queue that applies the same boxes to several videos, and priority email support. Cancel any time from Settings → Billing; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.

Responsible use
Use it on your own videos and on clips you have the rights to edit. Removing a visible mark does not change who owns a video, what a generator’s terms allow, or a platform’s rules about labelling AI-generated content. Do not use it to take credit for someone else’s work or to present AI video as real footage.
